Referring to the necessity of expanding tourism industry with Islamic tourism strategy, Seyyed Mohsen Tabatabaei Mozdabadi, the secretary of IUESA said: one of the challenges of tourism in Iran is determining long-term strategies for the development of this profitable industry.

Noting that tourism is considered as one of the fastest developing sectors of global economy, he said: today, this industry is counted as the fourth world largest industry so that it is predicted that more than 1 billion international tourists traveled in 2014.

Saying that tourism industry could create 240 million jobs directly and indirectly, he said:  every 10 people in the world one of them will work in the tourism part by 2022.

Adding that special emphasis is on tourism industry in upstream documents, he said: it has been emphasized in 20-year document to have 20million tourists by 1404 and would increase to 1.5 Iran’s share from foreign tourists.

He said “Iran has potential facilities, in terms of geographical location, natural, historical and religious attractions, for active and effective presence in the tourism industry, and according to the experts’ opinion is one of the top countries having tourism potential”.

Iran has a lot of powerful regional competitors. Cultural-religions area of tourism can be a distinct advantage for millions of tourists.

Referring to the Middle East region attracts 4% of total world tourism and our country having many tourism attractions can be an attractive and safe destination for many international tourists, he said “Iran has potential facilities, in terms of geographical location, natural, historical and religious attractions, for active and effective presence in the tourism industry, and according to the experts’ opinion is one of the top countries having tourism potential”.

He considered Ecotourism, Geo-tourism, cultural tourism, religious, medical, historical and urban only as a part of Iran tourism attractions and said, “Yet, our country is located on the fringes of the global market tourism and according to the report of World Travel and tourism Organization in the field of tourism competition.

Emphasizing that Iran does not have any flaw and weaknesses from the perspective of historical, cultural, geographical, and natural capacities, he said: we are able to change into a tourism hub in the region.
