Most media neglect the issues of urban economy
The secretary of IUESA warned the negligence of media from issues of urban economy in the side lines of the 21st Press Exhibition and he emphasized that urban development is meaningless without economic look.

Visiting ISNA stand, Seyyed Mohsen Tabatabaei Mozdabadi noted that unfortunately the role of the media in urban sustainable development was not seriously considered. Today, about 73 per cent of Iran’s population live in urban areas and it is assumed that the rate of urbanization would reach to 70per cent by 2050 globally, he added.
Emphasizing that urban sustainable development is subject to electronic and smart city, he pointed out: the major part of the issues of smart city will be implemented only when there would be smart citizens and smartization and responsibility are not achieved but through media training.
Noting that smart city has 6 dimensions namely smart economy, smart dynamicity, environment, governance, people, and life, he added, today, many important and developed cities such as New York, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Amsterdam put the subject of smart city in their agenda as a principal solution for urban development.
Referring to the negligence of the media from the issues of urban economy, he further said, most media address the issue of urban economy less while the improvement of urban services in different social, cultural fields requires achieving to sustainable resources.
Highlighting that the media should be aware observers of urban society, he explained: on one hand the media should aware citizens about their responsibilities in urban development; on the other hand they should present the services and capabilities of urban management to the citizens.
